At my core, I am driven by a desire to answer one simple question -why? Why does a system work? Why do we call it that? Why does this happen? And throughout my life, I felt that if you studied an area, you would eventually understand the “-ology” behind a system, or at least develop a level of intuition for how the system operated. This desire to understand drove my interest in Finance. I remember being puzzled and fascinated during an investing simulation in high school. I had no intuition for how or why financial markets behaved as they did, and I wanted to know. So when I was considering whether to follow in the steps of most of my family and study how the body operated or to do something different, I chose the less familiar path – Finance.

What drew you to the Forty Acres Scholars Program (FASP)?

I remember my Finalist Weekend as a whirlwind of excitement, anxiety, and awe as the Forty Acres Scholars Program introduced me to the variety of options and the excellence of each available at UT Austin. But most distinctly, I remember the people I spoke with that weekend – current scholars and finalists. I was consistently amazed by their varied perspectives, amazing life stories, passions, ideas, and intellect. While, the depth and hands-on experience provided by the Business Honors and Plan II Honors Programs drew me to UT, it was the people who drew me to the Forty Acres Scholars Program and continue to inspire and amaze me every day.
