46th Annual Lone Star Stampede hosted by Texas Exes Houston & Katy

Katy Chapter, February 8

Serving Katy and surrounding communities

We are a chapter of UT’s official alumni association, the Texas Exes®, whose mission is to promote and protect The University of Texas at Austin and unite alumni around the world.

Our chapter is only a few years old, born from the realization that Longhorns in the rapidly expanding western suburbs were generally not traveling into Houston for alumni events. Our goal is to develop connections to the past, present, and future of UT Austin and between Texas Exes members by providing fun and meaningful involvement opportunities. Katy Chapter is engaging more alumni by hosting events closer to their community.

Chapters hold a variety of events with various objectives, but the primary purpose of any funds we raise is to award scholarships for local students who will attend UT. As large as the Houston area is, there is heavy competition for scholarships. Starting this new chapter helps relieve the Houston Chapter of some of their demand, and ultimately brings more scholarships to the Katy area.

Though anyone interested in supporting UT can participate, our activities are geared toward UT Austin alumni. Non-Members and friends of UT are always welcome at our events, but we hope that everyone will consider a membership. It wouldn’t be Texas without the Exes!

If you don’t see what you want to do in our Calendar, feel free to volunteer to make more happen! And if you are interested in helping with anything already on the calendar, please join in the fun. We are a completely volunteer-run group.
