Growing up, I always had an entrepreneurial mindset. Whether it was selling clothes I made on Instagram or starting what I called Fashion Case Inc. and selling "designer" phone cases to my friends, I always had a way of taking a passion of mine and trying to grow it into something bigger. The University of Texas at Austin provided me the opportunity to explore a multitude of different topics and develop new passions.

Through the Canfield Business Honors Program and the Forty Acres Scholars Program, I have been able to further develop this passion by exploring and creating startups in the space between healthcare and finance. Alongside my course work, I learned basic finance and investing principles through the University Securities Investment Team and researched opportunities in the medical field surrounding my community through the Health Leadership Apprentice program. With inspiring people in these crucial programs, we created The Kid People, a platform that builds awareness around children’s mental health while tracking their emotions to build resilience and share data with parents, and Med&Co, a website that connects the uninsured population in Austin with free or low-cost health solutions. I look forward to continue inventing new solutions in my communities.

I will be graduating in May of 2023 and continuing my adventure in Austin, Texas. I will be working as a Private Equity Analyst at Haveli Investments. Achieving this goal would not have been possible without my fellow scholars, the Forty Acres staff and program donors who inspire me every day and have pushed me to reach for the stars. I can't wait to be an alumni of UT and this program and work to give back a fraction of what they have given me.

What drew you to the Forty Acres Scholars Program (FASP)?
Being from Illinois, Texas always seemed really distant. However, as soon as I arrived at the Forty Acres Scholarship Program Finalist Weekend I felt right at home. I promptly discovered that the scholarship is just a piece of what this program offers. Each student I met that weekend was incredibly enthusiastic about the classes, research, and/or internship they were partaking in. Not only were the scholars driven, but they were immensely supportive. Through the process, I felt that I was already a part of a family which made this large city and university feel so much smaller. Furthermore, I was immediately drawn to the countless connections and the willingness of the alumni to be involved and support all of the scholars. The doors that this scholarship will open for me is invaluable. To top it off, the program supports every desire you might have to dual major and study abroad to see, help, and learn about the world. To me, the Forty Acres Scholarship Program represents endless possibility and opportunity.  What could be greater than that?

Favorite FASP Memory?
I have had the opportunity to live with fellow scholars for most of college. All of my favorite memories from college have been formed with this group of people. From playing board games to grabbing take out and watching movies to traveling the world together, we have created endless stories together. The people in this program have become my best friends, future bridesmaids and most importantly, family.

What do you want prospective students to know about The University of Texas?
The University of Texas at Austin gives you an alumni network that is unmatched. Show up to DKR for one game day and see Longhorn fans from all over the world walking with their families in their burnt orange and horns raised and you will quickly fall in love with the engrossing environment. Alumni of this school show up in more ways than one. Need career advice, they will be there. Want an introduction to a new company, they will help. I remember being in Rome wearing a UT shirt and a woman and her husband stopped to tell me how they met on campus 50 years ago. They proceeded to give me their favorite recommendations all around the city. There are 100 reasons why The University of Texas is an amazing school, but the primary reason is truly the unmatched network that attending this school will give you.
