Breakout Session Overview
Let’s Put the ‘T’ in Texas and Technology
In this session, you will receive an overview of the online resources available to your chapter/network and their functions. You will also learn how to create events with our event creation tool on the Texas Exes website in addition to Eventbrite, how to review event registration, new chapter portal page to submit documentation and submit requests, and how to update your webpage. Our chapters and networks connect thousands of alumni around the world and our available technology resources make an impact!
Raising the Bevo Bucks: Fundraising & Scholarships
Chapters/networks provide alumni with a connection to UT and the Texas Exes through activities that bring alumni together. Whether it’s through a happy hour, scholarship dinner, golf tournament, or business networking event, chapters/networks raise friends, raise fun, and raise funds. In this session you will learn modern fundraising strategies, learn about our Texas Exes Endowments, and an overview of our Texas Exes Chapter endowments, the 40 Hours for the 40 Acres campus fundraising and Network Scholarship program.
Social Media and Marketing Tips
In this session, you will learn best practices for social media and tips for improving your Chapter or Network’s overall marketing strategy. We will cover social media do’s and don’ts, content ideas, and how to build an audience and maintain a content calendar. We will also share email marketing practices and guide you through the new email request process. If you need help building a strong digital presence, this is the session for you!
Boots on the Ground: Running your Alumni Chapter and Network
Our chapter and network volunteers are our boots on the ground working to engage alumni all over the world. They are the lifeblood of the Texas Exes. How do you keep your volunteer leaders feeling appreciated and happy? How do you select your slate of officers? How do you recruit new board members? In this session, learn the tools and tips to recruit, retain, and engage volunteers. We will review the life cycle of a longhorn and the three main archetypes our alumni fall into to help understand and effectively engage with alumni. We also will overview how to best transition your chapter and network board leaders year after year to maintain a strong board.
It Wouldn’t Be Texas Without the Exes: Chapter and Network Breakout Session
In this session, you will be broken up by chapters and networks. Chapter 1 Star – Chapter 3 Star and Chapter 3 Star Outstanding – Chapter 4 Star Outstanding will have the opportunity to discuss best practices to running your chapter based on category as well connect to chapters with similar goals in their own sessions. Networks will also have the opportunity to share best practices amongst each other. The session breakout groups will be led by your assigned Chapter or Network Advisory Board Member.
