At first glance, my hobbies might seem unconnected, ranging anywhere from hiking to solving Rubik’s cubes to starting a graphic design business. As I’ve gotten older, though, I’ve realized there is an underlying theme: exploring and problem solving. Whether I’m backpacking through the Galiuro Mountains and deciding which way to turn, or sitting in the Daily Texan office trying to finish designing a page before the midnight deadline, I’m exploring different options and choosing the best way to get something done. For me, there’s no better place to study than a school whose motto is “What starts here changes the world.” Being a part of both the Plan II Honors and Business Honors Programs allows me to study under some of the best professors in the world. As a Forty Acres Scholar, I have the gift of doing this alongside other ambitious students and with incredible access to business and community leaders. My interests may change, but I always have been (and always will be) interested in finding creative ways to solve problems, and in sharing these solutions with others. I hope to use my background in Plan II Honors, Business Honors, and Management Information Systems to continue doing this in the future, no matter what field I’m in.

What drew you to the Forty Acres Scholars Program (FASP)?
The gift of being a Forty Acres Scholar has given me the incredible opportunity to focus on learning, building relationships, and honing my problem solving and critical thinking skills without financial burden. The Forty Acres Scholars Program has given me an incredible network of students, faculty, and alumni, all of whom are supportive and encouraging. Additionally, UT is providing an outstanding education. This combination of a collaborative team and academic skill set will allow me to be successful and make an impact in my career. I want to make meaningful change in my community, and this requires a combination of knowledge, experience, vision, and collaboration. I am so grateful that the Forty Acres Scholarship Program can make this combination a reality!
