Dabrelle Dickson
My name is Dabrelle Dickson, but most people call me "Dab," and that's also what I prefer. I'm an outgoing individual, if I do say so myself. I would describe myself as a bit of a "nerd," a real outgoing nerd. Yep, that's it! I'm all about glitz and glam; I love getting dolled up. I'm only 18, but I've managed to obtain my Associates Degree in Arts while attending high school, while working two jobs and maintaing a 4.0+ (or higher), allowing me to finish high school as Salutatorian of LBJ High School (Austin, Tx). A few goals I have at UT are to maintain a decent GPA, become apart of a few clubs and meet many people. The thing that I am most excited about is my major, which is RTF. I'm excited to see where it takes me. Hook EM!
Texas Exes Austin Chapter Past President's Scholarship
In 2011, former Texas Exes Austin Chapter Presidents Richard Heller, David Thompson, and Ted Barnhill started up the Past President's Scholarship Endowment to recognize the hard work and dedication of the Past Presidents of the Texas Exes Austin Chapter and as a direct way that the Past Presidents can continue to give back to the Texas Exes Austin Chapter. In 2013, this Scholarship became fully endowed and now annually awards a 1-year scholarship for entering freshmen at The University of Texas at Austin from the Austin area. If you are interested in donating to this Scholarship, please contact our Scholarship Chair, John Brazil.
This year's Past President's Scholarship recipient is:
Claire Cheney
I am so proud to become a Texas Longhorn! I have fallen in love with the campus and I am absolutely thrilled to live on the Forty Acres in the Fall! I am a freshman and I am a Communication and Leadership Major. I am a huge extrovert, so I am extremely excited to meet new people and make new friends! Whenever I am in a new place, my mission is to plug in and get involved! I know there are tons of student organizations on campus and I can’t wait to explore all of them! I love to sing, volunteer, try new foods, and adventure which is one reason I cannot wait for the independence of living on a college campus! In high school, I was a highly active member of my school’s choir, and I had the pleasure of being the president my senior year. Leaving behind that community feels like I am leaving behind a second family, but I know that there are new things in store for me at The University of Texas!

Jacqueline Pham
Hi! My name is Jacqueline Pham and I am majoring in Human Development and Family Sciences in the College of Natural Sciences. I am on a pre-dental track in hopes of becoming a Pediatric Dentist in the future. Not only do I love tiny humans, I'm passionate about finding a way to expand dental care to everyone, especially those who struggle to afford it.
Zenith Jahid
I will be an incoming freshman on the Forty Acres this year studying International Business. Growing up, I would always see the UT tower whenever we went downtown. By the time I started high school, I became more involved with programs that required me to be downtown all the time. I would pass by the McCombs School of Business or walk on Speedway to get to my next stop. In an odd way, it felt like I was already in college; being at UT just felt right from the very beginning. Community service is very important to me, so I would like to join the Texas Orange Jackets. Then to meet other Bengali-American kids, I would like to join the Bengali Student Association. Of course, I would love to play intramural soccer whenever I have the time. By the end of my four years at UT, I hope to eventually work as a Management Analyst. Thank you once again for selecting me as a recipient of the Fall 2020 Austin Chapter Scholarship!
Janssen Fang
I am an incoming freshman at the University of Texas at Austin majoring in Biochemistry and hopefully minoring in Business in the future. I have lived in Austin for the past 18 years and I am excited to be spending four more years here as a Longhorn. In high school, I was an active volunteer for the special needs community, helping out at the Austin Miracle League (baseball league for special needs children) and Children’s Association for Maximum Potential (summer camp for special needs individuals). I also competed frequently for my school through Science UIL, HOSA, DECA, and TAME. At UT, I look forward to meeting new people, making new friends, and joining many different student organizations. I hope to take advantage of UT’s numerous research opportunities and conduct medical research as an undergraduate. I love Austin’s vibrant urban atmosphere and will probably spend my free time exploring the city with friends and eating out at local restaurants.
In the future, I plan to attend medical school and work towards a MD-PhD degree. I hope to work at the National Institute of Health as a medical researcher and create new medicines to enhance treatment plans for people suffering from chronic diseases.
Salma Bora
Hi everyone! My name is Salma Bora and I will be a freshman at the University of Texas at Austin this fall. I am majoring in Design (BA), and I also plan on doing something with Business, International Relations, and Entrepreneurship. I want to do a lot of things with my life. I want to be UX/UI Designer and start my very own graphic design company. I would also like to travel to different parts of the world and help people, specifically refugees and people who don't have access to clean water and food. I hope to join many different clubs this semester and during my four years (probably more) at UT and really get out of my comfort zone. I will do everything in my power to make the most of my time at the 40 acres. Hook 'em always!
