The story of Life Membership starts in 1957, when Joe C. “Jodie” Thompson, BBA ’62, became Lucky Life Member No. 1. More than a half century later, we are still going strong—thanks to the fierce support of our most loyal members. Your alumni association is here for you at every stage of your life and focused on preserving the value of your UT degree. Life Membership powers the efforts that make this possible.

Life Member funds are put to good use from day one. The Life Member Endowment Fund makes up 23% of our annual operating budget and powers many of our programs and advocacy efforts. As an independent, nonprofit organization, the fund distribution is essential to power our mission to promote and protect the University.
Ninety percent of Life Member dues are placed into a permanent endowment fund that powers everything from student scholarships and Camp Texas, to community engagement and advocacy for UT.
